Ever since I was little it looked like fun
Thanksgiving means a holiday here and more holidays ahead, right? Since moving out to California and working shifts at newspapers, holidays were for civilians. One thing that makes them better than bearable: the chance to sit down & see people I don’t meet as often as I’d like.
MJ’s often made space for holiday orphans and just people she knows to swing through, and goodness knows I’m glad to take advantage. Her and Jason’s spread made me wish I was still eating meat — hours later, and my mouth is still watering.
So, yeah, when Ankita and I got to visit today, and her neighbors were already there? And they just happened to have a guitar? And MJ asks us to sing for our supper? And everybody joined in while we were singing Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”? And I almost choked up at MJ and Jason’s daughter Amelia dancing around while I sang “And I hope that you are having the time of your life” to her? Yeah.
